about

There was a time when making music with computers required patience, knowledge and solitude.
When Frank Cebreros composed Estrellas Normales’ eleven tracks he was immersed in the study of the origins of life and music. The tracks were produced before the home studio era, in computers with 486/Pentium 1 processors which required costly audio peripherals. Few people had access to them; Frank wasn’t one of these lucky few. Plug-ins were a rarity, and there were no instruments in plug-in format. Therefore, this record has almost no recorded audio; it is composed mainly of sound that has been sculpted using midi, virtual synthesizers and samples. It contains only a few recorded fragments he manipulated in real time or in post-production.
The computer is treated as an instrument in Estrellas Normales, where Frank gives free rein to his exploration of sounds and registers, textures and sensations. For him, music is a space-time phenomenon; Estrellas Normales is a journey through time and space.
